Medium / High Voltage Windings
We manufacture high voltage windings according to customer specifications for different industrial applications.
Transformer windings can be classified as low, medium and high voltage. This distinction is of a global nature and is important for the purposes of the practical implementation of the windings because the construction criteria for the implementation of low voltage windings are different from those used for high voltage windings.
For construction purposes, the function of a winding is of no importance, i.e. whether it is primary or secondary, only the voltage for which it is designed matters.
In this type of transformer, the primary and secondary windings are concentric and wound on a single insulating support. Enameled copper conductors, spirally wound and with overlapping layers, are generally used.
The lower voltage winding is usually installed closer to the core by placing a cylinder of insulating paper between it and the higher voltage winding is installed concentrically by means of spacers. The ends of the windings (also called the beginning and end of the winder) are protected with a tube-shaped insulator.

They are generally made of a single spiral (sometimes in two or three superimposed layers), with rectangular insulated wires. The conductor is generally used for low power and has diameters not exceeding 3 or 3.5 mm.
The insulation of the conductors, when they are cylindrical, can be made of cotton or paper, more rarely enamelled conductor in the case of transformers that are not oil-cooled.
For medium and high power transformers, the use of insulated copper strips is used, the insulation is usually made of paper.
In the event that the currents carried by the winding are high, either for ease of handling in construction or to reduce eddy currents, the winding can be built with more than one plate in parallel.
High voltage windings have many turns compared to low voltage windings, and the current that flows through them is relatively low, so they are made of circular section copper conductors with a diameter of 2.5 to 3.0 mm.
Regarding the construction characteristics, there are variants from manufacturer to manufacturer, there are basically two types, the so-called "coil type" formed by several layers of conductors, these coils have a discoidal shape, these coils are generally connected in series to give the total number of turns in a phase.
The other type is called "layered" and consists of a single coil with several layers. This coil is of equivalent length to the several discoidal coils that would constitute the equivalent winding. Generally, the number of turns per layer in this type of winding is greater than that consisting of several discoidal coils.
Medium and High Voltage Windings: Suesa's Solution for the Electronics Industry
In the world of industrial electronics, medium and high voltage windings are key components to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment and systems. SuesaAt Suesa, we don't just supply quality windings; we manufacture them, which allows us to offer products tailored to the specific needs of our customers. Unlike most competitors who simply import, at Suesa we control the entire production process, from design to final assembly.
What are medium and high voltage windings?
Windings are essential components in transformers, motors and other electrical equipment. They are responsible for transferring electrical energy from one circuit to another using a magnetic field. Depending on the voltage required, these windings can be classified as:
Medium voltage windings: Generally used in electrical distribution systems and industrial applications.
High voltage windings: Designed for applications requiring higher voltage levels, such as power stations or transmission systems.
